13-month calendar
Since 365 = 28 * 13 + 1
, a 13-month calendar where each
month has 28 days each is a great way for months and weeks to be
perfectly compatible.
faq
- What is the main benefit?? With months and weeks compatible, the 10th day of every month for an entire year will land on the same day of the week. If someone invites you to an event on like June 10th, you'll know it's a Wednesday or whatever because every 10th is a Wednesday this year. The extra day will shift what day of the week the 10th occurs on the following year.
- What about the extra day?? We either call it New Years Eve or New Years Day and it doesn't have a month attached to it and we put it as either the first or last day of the year. This is one of the things the world calendar committee will be tasked with deciding. I'll put it as the last day of the year for this version.
- What about leap year?? This one is easy, we just have New Years Eve (or New Years Day) last for two days. Legally, both days count as one day.
- Isn't 13 months unlucky?? Maybe. It might be spookier than ever or it might dampen 13's reputation for being unlucky. To enhance whatever impact this has on the number 13, it is important to notice that every 5 or 6 years there will be 13 straight friday the 13ths. Which is probably cool.
